Import Existing Data

Question: I already have a exsiting database, electronic version, of my tools (or assets or inventory). Is there an easier way to enter this information, as opposed to adding all this data directly from the Tool Information (or asset or part inventory) screen?

Answer: If you already have your information in electronic format and can port it to a ‘tab-delimited’ file, you can use the “Import Tools” (or Import Assets or Import Parts) option. This is located under the FILE Tab Menu. (There are also sample, pre-defined, import file samples posted on the GigaTrak Client Center webpage.) Log on to the Client Center webpage, then go to the particular GigaTrak application section that applies.

From the “Sample Import File Text”, select the file version that applies to the software version you have.
