I can’t delete locations
Question: I can’t delete locations. When I try, a message box pops up that the location has been used for tools/assets and cannot be deleted. How do I remove locations that are no longer needed?
Answer: History is maintained on all items; but, there is the option to Delete it. It’s somewhat of a ‘stepped’ process. Item History records tied to that location must first be deleted.
It’s advisable to ‘inactivate’ the location, rather than deleting it. This is because a Delete requires that ALL tool history, whether it is tied to that location or not, be deleted; thus, affecting any other locations that have history pertaining to that tool/item.
In TTS or ATS, Select FILE | SETUP ; Select the Application Settings Tab, then Select the ‘Allow Delete and Purge History’ box:
Determine what tools/items have “history” at the location you wish to delete, then ‘purge’ that tool’s history. (You have the option to be selective about the “up to” date range for the purge.) Once all tool history tied to that location is deleted, you’ll be able to delete the location.
CAUTION: The purge options allows you to specify an ‘up to’ date range; there is NO option to be selective about specific dates, or specific locations. So, ANY/ALL tool history pertaining to other locations, or employees will also be removed with the purge. ALL TOOL HISTORY in the selected date range will be deleted and non-retrievable.
