How do I locate the file I need to install on the mobile, handheld terminal?
Question: I’m following the directions to install the GigaTrak client on the mobile handheld terminal, but the instructions are asking me to look for some installation files. I.E., drvupdate-x86.exe, etc. I have no idea where these are.
Answer: When the original GigaTrak download link was provided, (the one the main software was installed from) was sent to your company, it was in a “zipped” format. When files were extracted from this zipped file, several directories would have been created:
They may have been:
\ActiveSync & WMDC
\Doc
\Handheld
\SQL Server Scripts
etc., ………..
The files you need to install the ‘communication’ software (this software allows the handheld terminal to connect in ‘batch’ or ‘cabled’ mode to the PC workstation) will be located in the
\ActiveSync & WMDC directory.
If you don’t have access to the original files, this is available from Microsoft’s website.
The file(s) needed to install on the mobile handheld terminal GigaTrak client will be located in the\Handheld directory
