Question: How do I add tools with the handheld mobile terminal. The screen is asking for a Master item scan, but when I scan the tool barcode, it’s rejected.
Answer: First, set up ‘Master” (or “Catalog”) items (templates) from the “Master” (or “Catalog”) function in the TTS (Tool Tracking application). Then, print out a copy of the Master (or Catalog ) items by selecting the “Print Barcode List” button from the “Find Master” (or “Catalog”) screen.
When you wish to add a tool, simply locate the Master (or Catalog) item on the printed list, then scan the corresponding barcode into the Master field on the handheld terminal. Then, you can scan the new tool barcode. The asset and serial number fields are optional.
You will then, once the added tool transactions are uploaded to the main TTS database, need to make any additional tweaks to the tool record. This includes assigning a Storage Facility and Storage Location.
