Barcodes – what characters, numbers, etc. , can be used

Answer: Often existing user location, part number and employee IDs can be used with the GigaTrak system; however, in your case, these location values are not completely viable.
Within various barcode symbologies, barcode scanners interpret certain characters as “control” characters; as such, they scan the “control” character, but the what they decode it as is not what you see. For example, a single colon : could be interpreted as a control character with multiple character output.
Our embedded label designer allows for generating barcodes in Code 39, Code 128 numeric, and Code 128 alphanumeric.
Recommended characters for the barcodes used would be: Numbers 0-9, Letters A-Z or a-z, and these three Characters: ” ” (Space) “.” (Period) “-” (Dash or Hyphen)
