Barcode printer take-up spindle for ribbon missing

Question: I looked up how to set up the printer, but when I went to install the ribbon on top, I don’t have an empty roll for it to feed into. I can’t find this anywhere.

Answer: The printer ships with a small cardboard spindle (it’s just a spindle like the one that the original ribbon is wrapped around) …… that is to be used as a “take up” spindle. Users sometimes confuse this with the general packing material and it gets tossed. Likely, that’s what happened in this case.
