Mobile Device Application Data Safety
When using a mobile device that is connecting to a service, the safety and security of your data matters. When it come to our mobile device applications (GigaTrak software targeting Android and/or iOS operating systems), we want to be transparent about data collection and the security of your data in transit.
DATA COLLECTION
Active Data Collection
All transactions and actions completed in the mobile applications are collected and transferred to the web service you selected during setup. Active data is transmitted to your selected location at the appropriate time based on your selected mode. When the mobile application is in a Live mode, action data will be transported as soon as the user submits the given action. When in a Wireless Batch mode, action data is submitted at the time the user initializes a sync using the in application sync button. No active data is ever transmitted anywhere other that your selected service. Please note that all actively collected data is anonymous on the device level. This means that any submitted actions are tracked not by the device but by the specific user logged in at the time that the action was performed.
Passive Data Collection
GigaTrak mobile applications collect minimal diagnostic and analytic information. This data helps us to gauge how our applications are used and in turn helps our team continue to update and enhance our applications in ways that make the highest impact and benefit the most users. Please note that all collected diagnostic and analytic information is anonymous.
DATA TRANSIT
Is all of the user data collected by your app encrypted in transit?
Due to the flexibility of our software, we cannot guarantee that all data collected by our mobile applications is encrypted in transit. Please see the section below pertaining to your GigaTrak platform for more information about the data transit encryption. Regardless of your system type, all passive data is encrypted in transit.
Cloud Users
When the mobile device application is used in conjunction with a GigaTrak Cloud system, all active data is encrypted in transit. GigaTrak Cloud customers web services are secured with an SSL Certificate.
On Premise Users
GigaTrak cannot guarantee that all active data is encrypted in transit with an on premise system. This will be solely based on how your web service is setup and installed. Any question about encryption of data in transit for on premise systems will need to be directed to the local team or user that installed, setup and hosted the web service.
REQUEST DATA DELETION
All active data submitted through GigaTrak mobile applications is device anonymous; therefore, there is no way to delete data submitted from a specific mobile device. On this note, all passive data is completely anonymous, and thus the originating device is indistinguishable. With this, there is no way to request the deletion of this data type. To delete active data on a higher level, please follow the instructions below.
Through the Desktop Application
GigaTrak mobile application actions are stored in the system as history records. In many of our products, system history can be purged by the administrator using the desktop application. Please see the software’s user manual for more instructions on using the purge history process.
Database Deletion
To delete all active data, the database can be deleted. Please note that this will remove all of your system data regardless of where the data originated. For on premise systems, you will need to manually locate and delete your database. For any systems that contain images or documents, these items will also need to be manually located and deleted. For cloud systems, please contact our support team at support@gigatrak.com to request what data you would like deleted: entry data, all images and documents or the complete system data.
