Question: We have been working with our new GigaTrak software … testing with various data. Now that we are ready to go live with the system, how do we start with a fresh database?
Answer: If you’re uncertain as to how to access file directories on a computer system, or, are unfamiliar with how to access files on the handheld terminal, please contact our tech support group for support/instructions : 262.657.5500
If you are familiar with computer systems, instructions are below. Be aware, ALWAYS back up any files before deleting or renaming them. We cannot be responsible for lost files or data.
To start over with fresh data, we recommend you contact your IT administrator for backup assistance & support.:
A. Replace the ‘test’ database with a new one:
1.For an SQL database, reference ‘Manage SQL Database’, a supplemental document, that is available.
After the test database is removed, rerun the SQL scripts that were included with your software license download to create a new database.
2. For an Access database, reference ‘Manage Access Database’, a supplemental document, that is available.
B.IF using a mobile handheld terminal (batch) , the application ” *_mod.sdf ” file will need to be deleted from the handheld. The terminal will need to be re-synchronized and downloaded once your new database is populated. (This information is also documented in the Manage * Database support documentation.)
When you restart the GigaTrak application, the database will be fresh. You will need to logon as Administrator, reset all employee access, re-register your application and re-import or re-enter data.
