Create a Container in TTS
Question: I am not clear on how a container is supposed to be created. My company sets up metal racks for welders and I need to be able to assign specific components (equipment) to those racks to track as a group.
Answer: A Container is a “grouping” of items….. could be a ‘kit’, could be a ‘bundle’, could be a ‘toolbox’…….. it’s easy to set up one. Create either a “Master” (I.E., template) container, or create a container directly from the Tool Information function in TTS:

NOTE: Instructions below are assuming there are existing container(s) master items, which is something you mentioned over the phone.
1. Click on Tool button
2. Click on Tool Information tab
3. Click ADD
If creating from a Master (I.E., Template):
– Select the Master item box (3 dot box, top left corner of screen)
– Select Container Master item from the listing
– Select Storage Facility
– Select Storage Location
– If auto-barcode is NOT turned on in Setup Options, enter
barcode information
- Fill in any other ‘optional’ details
If creating as a totally New item:
– Select Classification
– Select Type
– Enter Description
– Select Storage Facility
– Select Storage Location
– If ‘In Service Date’ is not correct, Select correct date
– Check “Container’ box (Located under “Primary Data” Tab)
– If auto-barcode is NOT turned on in Setup Options, enter
barcode information
- Fill in any other ‘optional’ details
9. Click Save
