Question: Can you help me with the use of containers in the TTS? I would like to know how to set them up, their usage and applications. Also, how does the use of a container relate to other items.
Answer: Essentially, a ‘Container’ is classified as a ‘tool’ into which items are placed. For example, it could be a “box,” a “toolkit,” a ‘truck,” a “pallet,” a ‘kit’.
Typically, items or assets can be check out ONLY to a Person or a Location with the exception of the ‘container’. Items can be checked out to a ‘container’, then that container can be checked out to a ‘person’ or ‘location’.
Note: Once a tool is defined as a ‘container’, it’s always a container. This is not an editable field once the tool is saved.
Example detail: There is a “safety equipment bag”: The Safety Bag is defined as a “container” by checking the Container check box on the Tool Information screen:
Now, from the Check Out Function, Check out (F1), Select “Container”, and select the items/tools to be placed in the container:
